Switch Switch from Toast

Switching from Toast? Bring your bar with you.

Upload the exports Toast already gives you. GrillTab shows a preview first, then brings over your menu, staff, guests and gift card balances. Importing the same file twice adds nothing twice.

How it works

Four steps, most of it before your equipment arrives.

Download your Toast exports

In Toast Web: the menu export, the employee list, your guest list and gift card balances. They're your data.

Upload and preview

Drop the files into GrillTab. You see exactly what comes over, and anything that needs a look, before anything is saved.

Check and set up

Fix any $0 items, set printers and kitchen screens, and print the new PIN sheet for your staff.

Go live

Your equipment ships set up for your bar. Run a practice shift in training mode, then open.

What comes over

Your menu, staff, guests and gift cards.

What GrillTab brings overFrom this Toast file
MenuGroups, items, prices, SKU/PLU and option groups (sizes, temperatures, "no onions") with their limits, from Toast's menu export. Items with a $0 price come in turned off for you to check.Toast menu export (JSON or CSV)
StaffNames, jobs and wages. Toast doesn't export passcodes, so everyone gets a new PIN; print the PIN sheet and hand it out.Employees CSV or TimeEntries.csv
GuestsNames, phones, emails and birthdays, with visit counts, total spend and last visit when the file has them. Marketing opt-ins come over only when the file says the guest opted in.Guest / customer CSV
Gift cardsEach card with money on it, under its Toast number, so guests keep using the cards in their wallets. Masked numbers (••••1234) can't be brought over; the preview lists them."Gift Card Balances" CSV
After you switch

Your data stays yours.

No contract

No multi-year term and no cancellation fee with GrillTab. Your price is locked for 24 months.

Export everything, any time

Every table as a spreadsheet in one download, plus a nightly export to your accountant or a data warehouse.

Keeps running offline

The POS runs in your building, so a dropped internet connection doesn't stop the bar.

Built for bars

Tabs with card holds, liquor inventory and pour cost, ID checks and happy hours, made for how a bar runs.

Questions

What owners ask.

Do I have to cancel Toast first?

No. Bring your data over and set GrillTab up while Toast is still running, then switch on a quiet day. Check your Toast agreement for its term and any early-termination fee before you cancel.

Do my staff keep their PINs?

No. Toast doesn't include passcodes in its exports, so GrillTab gives everyone a new PIN and prints a sheet to hand out. They can change it at the POS.

Do guests keep their gift cards?

Yes, for cards whose full number is in the Toast export: they're loaded under the same number with the same balance. Cards shown only as the last four digits can't be matched; the preview lists them so you can handle them at the bar.

What about loyalty points?

Visit counts, total spend and last visit come over when your guest file has them. Point balances don't come over in the import yet; book a demo and we'll go through your loyalty program with you.

Can you help me do it?

Yes. Book a demo and we'll walk through your exports with you.
